Take the First Step Toward Healing
Whether you're struggling with trauma, anxiety, or relationship issues, support is available. Let's work together to achieve your mental health goals.
About me
I am Beth McCay, As a BACP-accredited Psychotherapist and an Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Practitioner, I have worked across various settings, including independent healthcare, the NHS, and educational institutions.
I have extensive experience in acute mental health settings, supporting adults with complex and enduring psychological challenges such as self-harm and personality disorders. In addition, I work with individuals experiencing general mental health difficulties, including anxiety and depression.
My work has also involved supporting young people and families within the adoption and foster care system. I am particularly proud to have developed and led a school-based counselling service, providing vital mental health support to students. Prior to this, I worked within the community, offering drug and alcohol counselling as well as outreach work to those in need.
I have a strong professional interest in developmental trauma and dissociation, including Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID).
I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is key to helping clients achieve their goals. My approach is client-centred and tailored to individual needs, ensuring a safe and supportive therapeutic environment. I also integrate creative approaches into therapy and, where appropriate, offer a “walk and talk” option for clients who find it beneficial.
Alongside my private practice in Northampton, I also run Serendipity Psychology Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire branch, a trusted multidisciplinary therapy service now supporting clients in Milton Keynes, Luton, Dunstable, Buckingham, and the surrounding areas. Our team of experienced psychologists and therapists provide evidence-based care for a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship challenges.
We also offer specialist approaches such as EMDR therapy for trauma and PTSD, alongside personalised treatments designed to meet your individual needs. At Serendipity, we understand how stressful it can feel to find the right therapist, which is why we carefully match you with a practitioner who’s the best fit for you.
